Nexon has just conducted a livestream preview for The First Descendant Season 2 Episode 2. This provided a lot more details about newcomer Serena, while also showing off a bunch of new skins. During the TFD livestream, Nexon also apologised for an unfortunate announcement that means The First Descendant will soon become literally unplayable for some fans in the near future.

The First Descendant devs end PS4 and Xbox One support

During The First Descendant Season 2 Episode 2 livestream, Nexon announced that they are ending support for TFD on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Support for both last-gen systems will officially end on June 19th.

The developers were translated as saying, “This might be the most shocking news of the day… we do have more than a handful of players playing Descendant with PS4 and Xbox One, and I’d really like to apologise to these players”.

As for why PS4 and Xbox One are being abandoned, it’s because Nexon have experienced “difficulties” while making a “lot of effort in sustaining the build for PS4 and Xbox One”. The developer claims, “Season 3 is a mega season update,” and Nexon want the development team to “increase the satisfaction of the content”.

Nexon reiterated that The First Descendant will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One after the June 19th update. However, your account information will remain, so you will be able to transfer your progress and save over to either PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

While this announcement will be disappointing for players who still only have a last-gen system, it’s probably the best decision for the game so that it is no longer held back by outdated platforms. TFD is already inferior enough on PS4 and Xbox One consoles compared to current-gen and PC, and the difference would only get worse as Nexon continue to deliver new and bigger updates with improvements such as the highly anticipated jiggle physics.
