Prime Matter and Brass Token have announced The Chant, a psychedelic horror game set for release later in 2022.

The game takes place on remote idyllic island which serves as the location of a spiritual retreat. Being a horror game, of course things go horribly wrong after a group chanting ritual summons more than just some good healing vibes. Rather, it’ll see you pulled into a negative dimension, including some “prismatic terrors” you and your group have accidentally unleashed. Oops.

Luckily it seems you’re not the only ones who made this fateful mistake. You’ll soon uncover a 1970s new age cult that also mysteriously disappeared in similar circumstances. You’ll have to get to the bottom of what happened to them while strengthening your own resolve to reverse the chant and escape the gloom.

Further details are slight at this early stage, but we’re promised a psychedelic horror action adventure that’ll keep fans of the genre on the edge of their seats. We’ll get to find out exactly how as developer Brass Token promises more information later in the year. For now, there’s a mood-setting teaser trailer, which you can check out for yourself down below.

The Chant is currently set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC in Fall 2022.
