Prime Matter and Brass Token have dropped the first full story trailer for upcoming psychedelic horror adventure The Chant.

Here’s the rundown of what’s going on, courtesy of the blurb. “When a ritualistic chant on Glory Island goes wrong, a visiting group’s negative energy unleashes a dimension of cosmic terror called the Gloom. To survive the Gloom, you must uncover a cultish mystery spanning both past and present, as the other group members slowly go mad from a host of parasitic creatures.”

As revealed back in May, you’ll go up against a multitude of horrors preying on the fears of your character in The Chant. You’ll decide whether it’s best to flee these monsters or fight with a range of supernatural weapons & abilities. Expect some time-twisty shenanigans too, as you investigate the fate of a similar group from the 1970s who went through a similar thing. The team promises a mixture between 1970s cult horror and new age spirituality in the game.

Horror fans certainly aren’t short of options over the next few months. We’ve had recent releases like The Quarry, the upcoming Layers of Fears and at least two space themed titles in The Callisto Protocol and the upcoming Dead Space Remake to come just for starters. Can The Chant add to that burgeoning feast of horror titles? We’ll find out when it arrives in Fall 2022 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
