Ubisoft is throwing every marketing trick in the book at Assassin’s Creed Origins: you’ve got the serious trailers, the expensive headphones, the machine learning translation research. All just classic, classic moves. Most recently it’s put out a series of shorts that combine the new protagonist Bayek doing cool stuff and animated tomb paintings talking about him. It’s really weird, but I also don’t hate it.

The clips have all been put together in a handy package so you can watch them all together now. Even if you’re not up for the animated bits, the other parts do reveal some interesting stuff about the content of the game, including that you apparently fight the gods (which didn’t come up in the preview).

Assassin’s Creed Origins is the latest entry to Ubisoft’s flagship franchise, and broke out of the yearly cycle by taking an extra year to finish up cooking, before being served to us at the end of the month on October 27. It’s also getting a kind of educational, combat free ‘open-world museum’ mode patched in next year. Cool.
