Bandai Namco has announced that players will get the chance to try out the upcoming fighter’s latest release over the festive period when a Tekken 8 demo arrives on console and PC over the next two weeks.

Though the game has had several rounds of beta testing so far, this is the first opportunity many will have to try out the game’s single player modes, and no signing up is required. Therefore it’s likely the best opportunity many will get to try out the newest iteration of the long-running series ahead of its full release in January. PlayStation owners will get to try it out first, with a week-long headstart, before Xbox and PC players are invited to try it out for themselves.

Tekken 8 demo release date

The Tekken 8 demo release date is currently scheduled for the following dates, depending on your format:

Tekken 8 demo release date PlayStation 5

  • Thursday, December 14, 2023

Tekken 8 demo release date Xbox Series X|S and PC

  • Thursday, December 21, 2023

What is included in the Tekken 8 demo?

While we don’t know which specific characters will be playable in the demo just yet, the official Tekken Twitter/X account has declared the demo will include the “first chapter of the Tekken 8 story, The Dark Awakens and a local versus fighting mode.” – so you should be able to at least fight against friends in the same room.

There’s no word if there’ll be any online multiplayer yet, but we’ll keep our eyes out and update when we have more information.

In the meantime, we’ve had some hands on with Tekken 8 for ourselves ahead of the Tekken 8 release date in January 2024. You can check out our Tekken 8 preview here. The full game is set to release on January 26, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and until then be sure to take a look at our Tekken 8 Character List – all confirmed fighters.
