Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. for Switch will be playable on the show floor at E3 in June.

Those of you lucky enough to attend the event (remember, it's open to the public as well as press nowadays) can be among the first players in the world to go hands-on with the highly anticipated beat-'em-up. Super Smash Bros. will be strutting its stuff at Ninty's booth from June 12-14, although be prepared to be standing around in a massive queue before actually getting in on the action.

There's not much known about Super Smash Bros. for Switch right now, other than it's coming out this year. Previous reports have suggested it might be a spruced up version of the Wii U edition of the punchy franchise, though we're hoping this isn't the case and that we're getting a brand new entry.

Nintendo confirmed that it will be hosting its E3 media briefing on Tuesday, June 12 at 9.00am PST, although as with recent years it'll take the form of a video presentation, not a live show. So, don't expect Reggie to be getting up on stage and talking about how ready his body is or Shigeru Miyamoto awkwardly waving a sword and shield about the place.

As well as first-party titles, we can also expect a range of third-party offerings to be presented at E3, which the Big N says will be 'featured across several Nintendo activities throughout the week.' Keep in mind that the company is also hosting a Smash Bros tournament at E3 too, so there's plenty to tuck into.
