Universal Studios Hollywood has announced an opening date for the first US version of the previously Japan exclusive Super Nintendo World theme park.

The park was first announced as coming Stateside earlier this year, and will feature a host of Nintendo themed rides and more, including a Mario Kart themed ride.

As per the official announcement – accompanied by the video below – the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood will open to the public from February 17, 2023.

The park will feature a Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge ride, where riders will be able to use special AR goggles to collect coins and throw shells as they ride around a specially made track.

On top of that, there’ll be the Power Up Band, just as with the Japanese park, that will allow you to keep score and interact with features around the park – including the ability to collect digital coins as you explore.

Naturally, you’ll also be able to ‘meet’ Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach and their friends at the park – and take home souvenirs from the 1-UP Factory. And if you fancy a bite to eat, there’ll be a range of themed treats at the Toadstool Cafe.

The Hollywood branch comes just after a successful two years of being established in Japan. That park will be getting a Donkey Kong expansion in 2024. No word yet if Hollywood’s version will eventually get the same treatment.

It’s set to be a busy 2023 for everyone’s favourite plumber and his friends, with The Super Mario Bros Movie also set to release next year.
