Capcom has swiftly moved to fix bugs affecting its newest roster addition after players found a game-breaking issue that arose soon after Rashid’s launch.

The new fighter arrived in yesterday’s update, but quickly fans noticed it was possible for his Ysaar attack to stay onscreen for far longer than it’s meant to, summoning a tornado that pushes the opponent into one side of the screen and leaving them unable to retaliate. Famous Street Fighter player Justin Wong perhaps showed off this glitch best in a video posted to Twitter. In addition, another bug – where the character of JP could move during his Embrace command grab – was also found and quickly shared online on the Street Fighter subreddit.

Fans were quick to jump on these bugs, coming as they have done right before the annual EVO Tournament is scheduled to take place next month, especially as Rashid will apparently be a legal choice for the tournament. “Why did they schedule this release right before a major tournament?” asks Ne0guri. “At the least Rashid shouldn’t be allowed in tourney play until these bugs are fixed. Even then rashid should be barred just from this first event otherwise it may upset the balance since people aren’t used to fighting him yet.”

There are some though, who are enjoying the chaos. “Between this and the Rashid tornado glitch this game is becoming a classic broken fighting game from the arcade days, and even though it’s super unfair it’s honestly pretty entertaining.” says Repulsive-Treat1711.

Thankfully, it seems that Capcom has moved quickly to squish these bugs, responding by taking Street Fighter 6 down for an ’emergency maintenance’ period earlier today, making the game unavailable for two hours while they fixed the bugs in question. The update also fixed an issue where players were not unlocking the character’s Outfit 2 in World Tour mode despite meeting the conditions.

Street Fighter 6 released just a couple of months ago, and competition was immediately fierce. There’s still plenty more fighters to come, and you can find out just who’s in the game and who’s still to come thanks to our handy Street Fighter 6 character list.
