June is a very exciting month for PlayStation fans. Summer Game Fest is right around the corner, as is the release of the highly-anticipated PS5 exclusive, Death Stranding 2. However, before both of these occasions, there will be a State of Play happening today. Here you will find the State of Play June 2025 start time countdown along with leaks for a new God of War, rumors about the reveal of Resident Evil 9, and more.
When does State of Play June 2025 start?
The start time for State of Play June 2025 is 2PM PT/5PM ET/10PM BST on June 4th. This comes courtesy of Sony’s official announcement on the PlayStation Blog.
According to the announcement, the show will last 40+ minutes. No games are specifically named, but the show will provide “news and updates on must-play games coming to PS5,” as well as “show highlights a selection of great games from creators across the globe”.
As for official games we might get a look at, Death Stranding 2 seems the most obvious as its release date is June 23rd. We could also maybe get another look at Ghost of Yotei seeing as it’s coming out in October.

Countdown
Below is a countdown to when the event will begin:
New God of War leaks
While no games are official for the show, there is the possibility we might get to see a new God of War game because of the recent influx of leaks.
According to Tom Henderson on X, the new God of War game is “smaller in scale than what [was] initially thought” as it’s instead claimed to be a “2.5D/metroidvania game”. Jeff Grubb replied to Henderson’s tweet with a simple “yep”.
In addition to the above, on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, it’s claimed that the game is basically “basically GOW X Blasphemous,” and “It is set in Greece before Kratos becomes a god”. There’s also a claim that it has a “Better art style than Hades,” and another leak claims there will be the return of Deimos with Deimos actually playable. It’s unknown if this means Deimos is playable in the stead of Kratos.
Resident Evil 9 reveal
The reveal of another God of War game would be exciting, but perhaps moreso is the rumored reveal of Resident Evil 9. MP1st reported that RE9 will be “revealed this week,” and the leading presumption is that it will be shown off at Summer Game Fest. However, there is the possibility it could be revealed at State of Play instead similar to previous Resident Evils such as RE8.
In addition to MP1st, renowned leaker, NateTheHate, has said reports about a reveal this week “are accurate”. RE9 could be reserved for Summer Game Fest, but hopefully it will happen during PlayStation’s show so we see the game as soon as possible.
According to rumors, Resident Evil 9 will star Leon again as the playable character in a third-person experience rather than first-person. There were also claims Jill would be playable, too, but these seem to have been walked back.
How to watch State of Play June 2025 live
You will be able to watch Sony’s State of Play for June 2025 live on either YouTube or Twitch. It’s likely some of your favourite streamers will be livestreaming the event, too, so you can watch alongside them.
It should be a fantastic event, especially if the God of War leaks are accurate, and RE9 does get revealed. There are other games from Sony in the pipeline such as Wolverine from Insomniac and Intergalactic from Naughty Dog, but it’s highly unlikely we’ll see either. And don’t hold your breath for more GTA 6.
In other gaming news, Hideo Kojima has confirmed he is already working on his next game after Death Stranding 2.
