The Game Awards 2024 was an eventful evening as it celebrated 10 years of the ceremony and had some big reveals during the show. These announcements included a new Helldivers 2 Major Order, The Witcher IV, Borderlands 4, and even a bizarre Pac-Man game.
However when it came to Geoff Keighley’s “one more thing” moment, Naughty Dog, developers of Uncharted and The Last of Us series stole the show. The devs announced their upcoming title Intergalactic with a three-minute trailer, which according to Geoff, is an actual capture from the engine and it’ll look exactly the same in the game.
Naughty Dog’s next game Intergalactic turns you into a Bounty Hunter in space
The official trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the next epic sci-fi adventure by Naughty Dog and PlayStation was released right before the announcement of the Game of the Year, where Astro Bot clutched the win.
However, when Intergalactic was shown, it looked like a game from the universe of Concord at first glance. But as the trailer proceeded with gorgeous cinematics and a Porsche ship flying in space, it grew into something bigger.
As per the official synopsis, the Heretic Prophet is the newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5 console from Naughty Dog, the studio behind acclaimed series like The Last of Us and UNCHARTED.
Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.
According to Geoff, the game has been in development at Naughty Dog since 2020, with Neil Druckmann returning at the helm as the director after the success of The Last of Us franchise. The game also features original music from Nine Inch Nail’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
While a release date and window haven’t been announced yet, Keighley informed viewers that there’s more to come about the game soon by Naughty Dog and PlayStation in the coming months.
