Wanting to skip the Starfield intro? Then you have come to the right place. Starfield is here for those with early access – but for those waiting patiently for the wider release, or experiencing some of the crashing issues we’ve come across, then you may want to get into the game as quickly as possible.

The downside is that then when you start the game, you are treated to what looks like an unskippable intro, which is (spoiler free) great, but after the 10th time – (that’s if you’ve had to restart the game due to a crash), it can get a little tiresome.

No worries, help is at hand. And remember, if you are having issues with Starfield, check out our Starfield crashing on PC guide, which wil give you some handy information as well as tips and tricks you can try.

How to skip Starfield intro – step-by-step guide

Now, this fix only works with those playing the game on PC, so if you’re on Xbox, we don’t know yet if there’s a way of doing it. If this changes, we’ll upate this article, but we’re hoping the Xbox performance is more stable than the PC version we have some issues with during our Starfield review playthrough.

Please follow these steps to skip the Starfield intro:

  1. Head to Nexus mods and download the Cleanfield mod. To do this, click the ‘Files tab and then manual download. Note, you’ll need to create an account to download this
  2. Once it’s downloaded, open it with 7-Zip file manager – you’ll see 3 files: Data, Readme (which tells you what to do) and Starfieldcustom.ini
  3. Head into your Steam library and find Starfield
  4. Right click the game and choose Manage
  5. Select browse local files
  6. Drag the Cleanfield Data file into the exisiting Data file for the current game. To do this, drag it over – and click ‘replace the file in destination’.
  7. Next head over to: Documents/My Games/Starfield
  8. Once you’re there, drag the Cleanfeld Starfieldcustom.ini into that. If you already have a Starfieldcustom.ini file, just make sure Cleanfield contents are dragged in there
  9. When you next start the game, the intro should be skippable

We hope this has helped you get back into the game quicker. If you need any more help, check out this brilliant video here, which goes through the above visually. Happy spacefaring!
