With the Starfield release date just around the corner, you might be tempted to give some other space-themed games a go before diving head-first into Bethesda’s space adventure. Luckily with the Steam Summer Sale well underway, there is a plethora of games to choose from. However, for space flight and combat no game is more recognizable than Elite Dangerous.

Elite Dangerous offers players the chance to “take control of your own starship in a cutthroat galaxy.” This certainly seems in line with Starfield’s attempt to let you become an outer space hitman following the reveal of a bounty system. The game itself has received a discount of 75% off with the game now costing $7.49/£4.99/€6.24. Alternatively, if you’re looking to get the full Elite Dangerous experience the Commander Premium Edition of the game is also 65% off costing $22.74/£17.49/€19.24.

Maybe space travel isn’t what you’re looking for though. In that case, Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds is also 34% off on Steam with the game costing just $19.79/£16.49/€19.79 and the Spacer’s Choice Edition Upgrade Bundle costing $39.40/£29.65/€39.40 at 44% off. Obsidian’s space RPG has been praised for its great story and characters, so if you’re looking for something with a bit more narrative mixed with some goofy humour in the leadup to Starfield then you can’t go wrong with The Outer Worlds.

A perfect pairing with Elite Dangerous in the lead-up to the Starfield’s release might also be the entire Fallout series. The entire catalogue of Fallout games is currently 74% off on Steam.
