Following the in-depth gameplay demo of Starfield during the June 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, it has now been revealed that the upcoming open world adventure will also introduce an exciting bounty system. Apparently, this feature is going to be applicable towards both player characters and NPCs, meaning you’ll be able to experience what it’s like to either be an outer space hitman or an interstellar lawbreaking bandit once the game gets launched.

With the Starfield release date only a handful of months away, you’ll soon be able to choose between these two professions. Obviously, if you choose to be a bounty hunter, it’ll always be much easier since you won’t have any space cops chasing after you throughout planets. But the excitement that comes with being an intergalactic pirate may be too good of an opportunity to pass up for some, so there will inevitably be those that choose the life of an outlaw.

It’s important to keep in mind, though, that if you decide to steal a mountain of sandwiches for instance and the reward for your capture gets big enough, there’ll be times where you’ll have to escape from hordes of authorities and mercenaries alike. But with several habitable planets being included in Starfield’s sprawling world, the game should give you plenty of ways to lay low until all the hubbub dies down.

With all of these possibilities in mind, some players have now started heading to Reddit in order to share what they plan on doing with the bounty system once they get their hands on the game. One player said that they’re “looking forward to planting stolen items in NPC’s inventory and increasing their bounty” so they can reap the rewards for themselves. Another responder, on the other hand, was simply hoping that chickens wouldn’t have the ability to report you for your crimes like in Skyrim.

No matter what you decide to be, it’s safe to say that the excitement for Starfield is starting to reach an all-time high. Hopefully, it can live up to all this hype but, for now, we’ll just have to entertain ourselves by constantly re-watching the gameplay trailer until the release date rolls around.
