With the recent Starfield Direct showing off a load of new gameplay and story content for the game, many fans have been asking if we’ll see Earth at all in the outer space roleplaying game. Some fans are theorizing that we may have already seen our home planet in recent Starfield gameplay.

Taking to the Starfield Reddit, derekgr posed the question as to whether the picture below actually depicted Earth in Starfield’s universe. This sparked a huge conversation among players after the community previously spotted small details that could predict a grim fate for Earth in the Starfield universe.

One user theorized that the “glitchy overlay makes me think this is some sort of broadcast or vision of how Earth used to be overlaid on how Earth is.” Another user added to this idea saying, “The tower is discoloured a rusty colour and you can see the walkways from the tower to the ship are broken/drooping. This is probably one of the few landmarks you can visit on Earth. As mentioned in a video I saw, you can faintly see a logo that says either ‘NASA’ or ‘NASX’ at the bottom of the tower.”

Other users began to theorize about what this image could mean for Earth. Was its collapse predicted or were people rushing to leave at a moment’s notice? One player said, “definitely has this look of a last-ditch escape shuttle, a shuttle for escape from once a blue planet,” while another user noted that the planet in question could possibly be Mars.

Needless to say, the question surrounding Earth’s fate in Starfield is certainly one players are focusing on. It will be interesting to see what happened to our home planet when the game is released. The Starfield release date is set for September 6, 2023, so in the leadup to Bethesda’s latest adventure be sure to check out our Starfield Crimson Fleet faction guide and Starfield Freestar Collective faction guide.
