Those eagerly awaiting the launch of space-faring RPG Starfield have been enamored with much of what they’ve seen so far, although it seems some might be concerned with the lack of certain cutlery.

A popular thread on the Starfield subreddit has noted that, in much of the video material we’ve seen of the game thus far, we’ve seen a lot of forks but not much in the way of spoons. While the thread is very tongue in cheek, many others are having some fun with this omission, such as nanapancakethusiast who is calling the game “literally unplayable” two months ahead of the Starfield release date.

Similarly, CheezenGrits channels the energy of the my disappointment is immeasurable meme with their comment: “I’m no longer interested in Starfield. This has ruined my excitement.” Similarly, EdwormN7 adds “FFS, just when I thought this game was ready to play. Gonna cancel my constellation edition pre order now.” However, Flyraidder takes a different approach to the seeming lack of spoons in the game “Guys if you can’t use forks in place of spoons, it’s a skill issue,” while Tnafan suggests extreme measures are in order. “I suggest we kidnap Todd until we get what we want.”

Some folks however, think there’s an opportunity for Bethesda here, such as CAStastrophe1 who says “Better be a fork melee weapon” – and we can’t help but agree it’ll be hilarious to try and assault a lunar base armed only with a fork. Spiritualbacon makes a good point though, as if the community can potentially add land vehicles to the game if Bethesda won’t, then surely kitchen utensils won’t be off the table, as it were. “Someone will mod it in day one. I guarantee it.”

On a slightly more serious note, it’s been brilliant seeing the community getting into the smaller details around what’s sure to be a massive RPG like Starfield. As we previously saw, even seemingly mundane things like rocks may take a lot of developer hours to make, but there will be players out there appreciating the hard work that’s gone into making them. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing a lot more players celebrating the big and small when Starfield arrives on September 6, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. That, or the whole thing is taking place inside the Matrix.
