EA and Respawn have formally announced their follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The announcement came as part of the Star Wars Celebration event held over the weekend. Cal Kestis will return in a new chapter in his story, set five years after the previous game. “Cal must stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit as he begins to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy,” reads the blurb. “Accompanied by his trusty companion BD-1, Cal will meet and ally himself with an array of unique and interesting characters on his journey. In order to survive, Cal must learn new skills and grow his connection with the Force.”

Confirming both sets of rumours from the last month or so, EA has declared that the game will be a current-gen exclusive. Returning director, Stig Asmussen, gave a few hints to the Star Wars website on what we can expect from the sequel plot wise. “They are in dark times, and Cal and the crew are doing whatever it takes to stay alive. That might mean that they are making connections with people that, in other times, might be considered unsavoury.” Some of this is apparently hinted at in the cryptic teaser trailer, which you can see below.

There’s no indication when we can expect to see more from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at the time of writing. A sequel to the excellent 2019 action game was first announced back in January alongside two other Star Wars projects from EA. Presumably then, we’ll hear plenty more before Star Wars Jedi: Survivor arrives on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC in 2023.
