Take Two’s Zynga has announced that Star Wars: Hunters has been delayed once more, and will now release in 2023.
The development team addressed fans in a statement posted to the game’s official Twitter account. “We are working tirelessly to achieve our vision for Star Wars Hunters,” it read. “Our ambition is to create a competitive battle arena game that will entertain for years to come. To ensure we meet the high expectations we are setting for fans globally and ourselves as developers, we have made the decision to delay the worldwide launch of Star Wars: Hunters.”
Zynga had already ‘soft launched’ the game in a number of limited regions on Android. These regions included India, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia in November of 2021. Brazil and Mexico and iOS devices joined in February 2022 and Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan joined them in May of this year. However, it seems the game needs more time in the oven before it’s ready to land on the Nintendo Switch. Those already in the soft launch will continue to be, Zynga says, and the devs will continue to roll out content updates for them.
The free-to-play battle arena game was first unveiled during a Nintendo Direct broadcast in early 2021. Zynga previously delayed the game into 2022 a few months later. Pending any further delays then, hopefully it’ll finally see the light of day in 2023 on Nintendo Switch, iOS & Android.
