Lucasfilm Games has recruited Amy Hennig & her Skydance New Media studio to work on a brand new Star Wars game.

The two studios announced their collaboration on the Star Wars website. Skydance will work on a “narrative-driven action-adventure game” based on the popular sci-fi universe, which will be helmed by Hennig. Hennig of course has previous credits on games like the Uncharted series and Jak and Daxter at Naughty Dog.

It’s very early days on the project, but it marks a return to Star Wars for Hennig. During her time at EA’s Visceral Games around the mid 2010’s, she was working on a Star Wars game known as Project Ragtag. However, that never came to pass, as EA closed Visceral in 2017, ending the project before it saw the light of day. (There was hope that EA Motive would continue the game, but it didn’t work out & we got Star Wars: Squadrons instead.)

The creator of Uncharted gave a statement on the announcement. “I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” said Hennig. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games added “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

Back in October, it was announced that Skydance New Media is also working on a new Marvel action adventure. There’s no platforms or ETA yet for either that or the Amy Hennig Star Wars game. Hopefully though, we’ll hear more in a galaxy not too far away.
