Nintendo announced that Splatoon 2 would be making a splash with some new free DLC, and following the Nintendo Direct update on the game this has now been for ink-serted. In this update players get access to the Heavy Splatling Deco, which will be available at the Ammo Knights weapon shop. The map Kelp Dome (which featured in the first Splatoon) also makes its return, with a few nips and tucks, and will be available for all. Some ink-redible additions, eh?

The Heavy Splatling Deco is a modified version of the Heavy Splatling hence the additional Deco. It’s got the same stats as the original version, but features a fancy new ink tank and comes with a different sub weapon, called the Splash Wall, which gives players a temporary ink barrier on the map.The Deco’s special, called the Bubble Blower, allows players to release three large bubbles that’ll float around the map until they’re shot by the player’s team.

The original Splatoon’s Kelp Dome makes its return, and Nintendo has made some changes to the map by adding a few new twists, and grated flooring, to give it a little freshening up. Kelp Dome was designed to look like its own self-contained ecosystem, and it’s shaped like a large square, with rounded edges, littered with paths and ramps which are linked by (uninkable) glass containers. More of the walkways now have a grated style, and the player can ink the level below through the holes in the ground.

This free DLC update is available to download now.

Splatoon 2 is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
