Developer Wayforward has announced it’s bringing colourful shoot-em-up Spidersaurs to PC and consoles in Q2 2022.

The shooter is an original property from the development team behind Contra 4. Classic action games such as the aforementioned Contra series and Saturday morning cartoons are the influences of the day. You’ll take on the role of either punk rocker Victoria or officer in training Adrian as you run around shooting half-spider, half-dinosaur hybrids known as Spidersaurs.

Expect plenty of OTT action across multiple levels. Both characters have their own specific weapons, such as Victoria’s Metal Spread and Electronica Chain. Adrian meanwhile will get to wield a Flame Thrower and Rebound Breaker. They’ll also be able to get special Spidersaur powers from their fallen foes.

The game originally launched as an Apple Arcade exclusive in 2019. For the console and PC release, a number of new features have been added. They include an all-new stage, a “true” final boss, a new ending, two new difficulty settings and Arcade and Speedrun modes to unlock. There’s also a bunch of tweaks, including rebalanced bosses and mid-level checkpoints too.

You can check out a trailer for the game for yourself down below. Spidersaurs doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but is expected on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in Q2 2022.
