Spider-Man 2 fans can’t stop laughing at Mr Negative’s new look

With the latest Spider-Man 2 trailer dropping just yesterday fans were quick to note the return of one pivotal antagonist from the first entry in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series. During the trailer, fans were treated to a brief glimpse of Martin Li AKA Mr Negative. It’s clearly been a while since we’ve seen the character and fans can’t help but laugh at his new appearance.

A number of Spider-Man 2 characters have received visual updates since their previous appearance in Spider-Man Miles Morales but Mr. Negative has been drawing the most attention. Many have already begun comparing Li’s new look of longer hair and a dark beard to that of other well-known characters and personalities. While some have taken to comparing Li’s new look to that of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick and Jesus one user said, “Can’t wait to fight Moist Critical in SM2!”

Another user jokingly noted that this version of the character was no longer Mr Negative but instead “Professor Positive.” Li’s appearance in the trailer has also prompted discussion among fans as to what his role in the upcoming sequel will be. Some are theorizing that Li might be reformed and may be there to help Miles take on Peter after he has become consumed by the Venom Symbiote.

Alongside this, one user theorized that since we see Li in his prison uniform we may be in store for another Raft prison escape. If this is the case, we can only hope that New York realises that the Raft prison really isn’t that effective.

Martin Li isn’t the only character fans have been talking about since the new trailer. Many have been theorizing as to who exactly will take up the Venom Symbiote after Peter. While all indications point to Harry Osbourn being the creature’s target, we’ll just have to wait and see when Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20, 2023.
