Sony has announced that its acquisition of Haven Studios, which Jade Raymond co-founded, is now complete. It had plans to fund an original IP from Raymond’s studio back in March, 2021. Then, in March of this year, Sony announced its plans to buy the studio outright.

We don’t know a lot about this upcoming game. But we know that it is a Triple-A multiplayer title for PlayStation 5. In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, Raymond spoke about the technology behind the game. She said that Sony is investing in “long-term cloud innovation, because we really believe it’s going to be a game changer in terms of how games are made.”

Raymond also spoke about a collaboration with Mark Cerny, the system architect of the PlayStation 5:

“So [Mark Cerny] is one of the main reasons we’re investing so much in R&D, and in this very senior engineering team. It’s not just tied to cloud but also some more forward-thinking R&D. I’m not able to say too much now, but that’s obviously one of the other things that’s been a big attractor and is exciting to our team with PlayStation. Of course Mark Cerny is kind of like a rockstar, too, so being able to collaborate with him is really exciting.”

Haven Studios has also hired Jalal El Mansouri, who served as technical architect on Rainbow Six: Siege. El Mansouri is principle architect and the studio’s head of research and development.
