The upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie has revealed its poster, and declared it’ll getting its first trailer by Friday.

The poster features Sonic and Jim Carey’s Dr. Robotnik looking far closer to his video game counterpart following the events of the first movie. However, we’ve also got Tails flying the duo’s iconic biplane, cementing his place front and centre for this sequel.

Casting wise, we also got confirmation today that voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey will be providing the voice of the young Miles Prower. She’s an old hand at voicing Sonic’s sidekick, also being Tails’ voice in several of the games and animated series Sonic Boom.

The movie’s trailer, meanwhile, will premiere during The Game Awards on early Friday morning. But don’t think that means the rumoured Sonic Frontiers reveal is a bust. Host Geoff Keighley, the cheeky scamp, has confirmed it’ll be part of a “Sonic double header”. So there’ll definitely be some other Sonic news at the show.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is set to arrive in cinemas on April 8 and will also feature Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles. The previous movie set a high bar, becoming the highest grossing video game movie of all time in 2020.
