For those playing the MW3 beta from when it kicked off, you may have run into a few people who were nearly impossible to kill. Don’t worry, it’s not about your aim, it’s more about the fact that for a day or so, there was a slight ‘glitch’ in the game that made people nigh-on invincible.
The ‘glitch’ in question was Battle Rage, which – up and until recently, acted as a sort of unlimited Quick Fix perk. This meant that every time you would take damage, it would kick in and regenerate your health. This happened because Sledgehammer Games moved Battle Rage from a Field Upgrade to the Tactical Equipment slot. This meant that you didn’t need to do anything to get a constant boost in health.
Now for the kicker… at least for terrible Call of Duty players like myself. Sledgehammer has since patched the ‘glitch’, substantially nerfing Battle Rage’s effectiveness. For one, the max duration has been dropped from 10 seconds to six seconds, while kills will now no longer increase the effect duration.
Elsewhere, incoming damage will now interupt health regeneration, while there has also been a reduction of health regeneration speed. Still, it hasn’t stopped a load of MW3 players calling out this ‘glitch’ on social media. Personally, this is what betas are all about… balancing. We have already reported that some gamers are cancelling MW3 pre orders off the back of their experience with the beta, but our view is there is still plenty of time to polish and improve the overall experience.
