Wales Interactive has released a new trailer for Sker Ritual, a multiplayer spin-off of Maid of Sker, featuring upgradable steampunk weapons.

Sker Ritual was announced last year, and it will offer players the chance to blast at those lumbering enemies that patrolled Maid of Sker.

Check out the trailer below:

The description reads:

“The co-op survival FPS and spiritual successor to the award-winning occult horror, Maid of Sker. Play solo or up to 4 players to survive the supernatural onslaught of the Quiet Ones. Coming to PC in Summer 2022 followed by new-gen consoles in 2022.”

This is bonkers, obviously. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Maid of Sker was a promising horror that staled into dullness. (Perhaps a dose of steampunk weaponry will wake it back up.) In my review of that game, I said:

“The designs of Elizabeth’s family aren’t so much foreshadowed as foreshouted, and the plot soon wavers off-key and winds up shipwrecked. But something about it hangs around, like the hum of an unsettling tune.”

Sker Ritual is coming out PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in Summer 2022.

I still can’t really get over the idea of steampunk weapons.
