In an exclusive report from Deadline, it has been announced that, producer/director Shawn Levy is in talks to follow up ‘Deadpool III’ by directing a ‘Star Wars’ movie.
Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “Really? Another ‘Star Wars’ movie announcement, is it a day ending in Y…”

And I completely understand, after years of cancelled or delayed ‘Star Wars’ movie projects. All of a sudden, it feels like every other week, a new mysterious project is getting announced or being alluded to.
But, Levy himself has retweeted Deadline’s announcement with the below comment of his own:
This news of course comes two years to the day from the release of Levy’s MCU directorial debut ‘Deadpool III’ on 8th November 2024, starring Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman.

This news, admittedly, is not all that surprising. As Levy is one of the most in demand filmmakers in Hollywood right now, proving himself to be very financially reliable with each new project released.
For, as a director, he has directed all three ‘Night at the Museum’ movies, in addition to directing ‘Free Guy’, and several episodes of ‘Stranger Things’ which he is also the producer of.
Throughout his career so far, Levy has proven himself as adept with adult orientated stories as he is with family orientated stories, and always with an eye towards balancing story with spectacle.
Qualities that make him somewhat of a no brainer choice for Lucasfilm and Disney when it comes to helming a new ‘Star Wars’ project whether as a director, producer, or both.
As, if there’s one thing that ‘Star Wars’ is known for, that has sadly been lacking from several of its most recent big screen offerings, it is a balance of story with spectacle.
