In an exclusive piece posted to their website, Deadline, have reported that influential producer, Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, Watchmen), has been secretly working with Lucasfilm Ltd to develop a brand new, as yet unannounced, ‘Star Wars’ movie.
Deadline report that they have heard from several of their sources in Hollywood who have advised them that this secret ‘Star Wars’ project is far enough into development with Lucasfilm that Lindelof they have already chosen their director to helm this next entry into the wider ‘Star Wars’ galaxy.

With their sources advising that ‘Ms Marvel’ director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, is the one who has been chosen to helm the movie. As, their sources have advised that Lindelof is still in the process of writing the script for the movie, and that it was important to both him and Lucasfilm, that whoever was chosen as director, be chosen early into development, so that they could contribute their vision of the movie to the writing of its script.

At present, nothing else is known about the movie, other than it is said to be very early into it’s development. But, given the production time scales of Hollywood productions, there is a good chance that Lucasfilm Ltd and Lindelof will remain tight lipped about this project until the next ‘Star Wars Celebration’ fan event, taking place in London in April 2023.
As Lucasfilm tend to keep big reveals and major announcements related to ‘Star Wars’ for their ‘Celebration’ events. As, naturally, it’s always better to make an announcement first in a room full of hundreds, if not thousands of fans, rather than just releasing it as a press release.
