The Game Awards had plenty to offer this year, and excitingly for fans of Hellblade, we got a fresh look at the sequel, Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2.

The new trailer showcased some of the gameplay and scenes players can expect to see in the sequel, and it looks just as dark both metaphorically and literally. We didn’t, unfortunately, get a more specific date for the game’s release – only promising it was still on track to arrive this year and would be a day one release on Xbox Game Pass.

As per the official blurb: “The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.”

The sequel was first announced all the way back in 2019, and we’ve had scraps of info since. The series has often been celebrated for its depiction of mental health issues – and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how the follow-up builds on that. For now, we’ll have to make do with the above.

Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC at some point in 2024 – hopefully, it won’t be too long before we hear more.
