Fortnite Chapter 5 has been full of innovative features, whether it’s movement mechanics, weaponry, or even the Medallion system that gave players special abilities. However, at the same time, it also brought in various game modes for a diverse audience that expanded the game into a metaverse.

Now that Epic is preparing for Chapter 6, the most anticipated one yet, rumors around the new era of Fortnite are stirring across social media, among which one of them has shocked the entire player base. The rumor surrounds a feature that OG players had been missing and is said to make a comeback in Chapter 6 that may change things forever either for the good or bad.

Fortnite Chapter 6 leak reveals return of Hitscan weapons

Hitscan weapons like the OG Assault Rifle are currently present in Reload.

In a recent player survey, Fortnite asked its users “whether they liked the hitscan or projectile-based shooting system more.” This led to speculation across the wider community on social media who preferred Hitscan weapons and thought it was the perfect opportunity for Epic to bring back the OG system.

When Fortnite first launched, all weapons were Hitscan except Sniper Rifles, meaning if you fired a shot, it would immediately hit your opponent since there’s no travel time for the bullet. However, in Chapter 5, Epic removed all Hitscan weapons and turned all guns into Projectile so the bullets would take some time to travel and gave a realistic illusion to the player.

But players didn’t prefer that and hence preferred to play Reload due to its inclusion of some OG Hitscan weapons. Now the latest Chapter 6 leak has sparked a joyous wave around the Fortnite player base as they’re celebrating the return of the OG feature.

One such player said, “Fortnite should stop trying to be a realistic game.” Another one wrote, “Bullet drop on everything genuinely ruined the feel of the guns in chapter 5 it’s literally the worst gameplay decision they’ve ever made.”

On the other hand, users who adjusted their gameplay according to projectile weapons are slamming this as an “unnecessary change” since the current system provides skill training that levels the playing field between casuals and pros.
