Bethesda has has announced that Redfall, its upcoming vampire shooter, is now coming out in the first half of 2023.

The company has also said that Starfield, a spacefaring R.P.G. from Bethesda Game Softworks, will also now be released next year.

In a statement released to Twitter, Bethesda said:

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”

Bethesda then thanks its fans for their ongoing support:

“We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating. We can’t wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. Thank you for your support.”

Bethesda revealed the fang-filled shooter last year, during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Check out the reveal trailer:

This is bad news for those who hanker for a good vampire game, which is rarer than it ought to be. It is also bad news for Xbox players, who are in need of exclusive games at the moment.

Arkane Austin’s creative director, Harvey Smith, said on Twitter:

“Hey, y’all, as you might have seen, we’ve decided to delay the launch of #Redfall. The team needs more time to bring the game to life. Thank you so much for your continued support. Redfall is our most ambitious game yet, and we can’t wait to show it off, soon.”
