Fear of the Dark is Red Dead Online’s new limited-time Showdown Mode that pits a team of supernatural monsters against human hunters (via Polygon).
Red Dead Online is celebrating the spooky season, and like Rainbow Six Siege, it has fully committed to the creepy crawlies and the heebie-jeebies. The Fear of the Dark mode will have a team of preternaturally powerful Night Stalkers who draw their macabre energy from skull totems hidden in the woods. The team of Hunters may be made of softer stuff, but as they collect the skull masks, the Night Stalkers power will be sapped while the Hunters’ weapons become stronger.
To win, Night Stalkers must eliminate the Hunters or outlast their foes, whereas the Hunters must kill the monsters by destroying their masks to survive their encounter. Fear of the Dark is live now and will end on November 12, and it offers a three times multiplier gold reward and two times multiplier in-game currency reward.
Rockstar Games’ latest update for the massively multiplayer, rooting, tooting, cowboy shooting simulator also comes with a 30 per cent discount on Cleavers, Machetes, Tomahawks and Throwing Knives. The Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue has got a new selection of snazzy clothing items, and a new Legendary Bounty.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, and it will be coming to PC on November 5 through the Rockstar Games Launcher.
