The developer behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has detailed its next step in fine-tuning the insanely popular battle royale romp, with PUBG Corp now setting its cross hairs on the game’s combat.

As the meat and potatoes of any PUBG bout, the studio has been listening to feedback during the Early Access period and is keen to tweak things after learning the ‘pacing and distribution of combat encounters in a match could be more even and less chaotic.’ As such, it’s first port of call is addressing the blue zone.

As fans will recall, the blue zone is the game’s way of keeping players into one area during heated fire fights towards the back half of a match. However, PUBG Corp is now looking to tone things down a bit, with tweaks soon inbound for the test servers.

For starters, the blue zone’s waiting time has been decreased for mid-late stages of a match, while damage per second for the final wall has been increased slightly. Finally, the shrinking speed of the blue zone has been decreased, again during the mid-late phase. For the latter, PUBG Corp notes that the wall will now move at slower speeds although the travel time has been bumped to accommodate this.

From the sound of things PUBG Corp is eager to have more players fall at the business end of their opponent’s weapons as opposed to falling foul to the blue zone. Still, that final wall is definitely something to look out for now that it’s been slightly buffed.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds received a new PC update earlier this week, though it wasn’t anything particularly earth-shattering.Â
