Sony hasn’t been very vocal about the upcoming PS3 LocoRoco game. So little has been said that it had been thought the title was nothing more than an interactive PS3 screensaver.

New information from within the pages of the latest issue of Famitsu (translated by IGN) suggests otherwise, revealing details of a new control mechanic and online leaderboards. In the PS3 game players take control of a butterfly, or a group of butterflies, and must lead the LocoRoco to the stage’s goal by shouting “boo boo” which attracts the LocoRoco to the butterflies.

The game is set for release on the PSN on September 21 so it won’t be long before you’ll find plenty of hands-on info all over the internet. You can see the game in motion over on Pro-G TV.

There’s currently no word on when the game will be released on US and European networks.
