While Diablo 4 is set to receive a heap of new content with its Vessel of Hatred expansion, dedicated fans are still busy bringing content to the game’s decades-old predecessor: Diablo 2. For the amazing fan mod Project Diablo 2, fans are adding new activities to the classic ARPG 24 years after it first released.
Project Diablo 2 Season 10
Releasing for all players on October 25, 2024, and in closed beta on October 12th, Project Diablo 2 Season 10 is adding a host of new content for fans. Titled “Desecration”, the new fan-made season also brings new ladders, Runewords and balancing changes to the game.
The biggest addition with Season 10 is the addition of a new Uber Boss, aiming to be the ultimate test for hardcore players. While the actual identity of the Uber Boss has not yet been confirmed, players should be excited for its release.

Alongside the new boss, Project Diablo 2 Desecration is also adding two new Runewords, ironically coming just after the mechanic is being added to Diablo 4. These new Runewords are Rapture, which slots into Hammers to increase attack speed and damage, ignore defense and stop enemies from healing, cast Fissure and Lower Resist on attack and earn extra gold against Undead enemies.
Alongside Rapture, you’ll also be able to slot Purity into your Polearms, Spears, Bows, Crossbows and Staffs. This new Runeword also boosts attack speed and damage while also increasing attacks against Demon enemies. The Runeword also helps you when taking damage by applying lifesteal and Prayer to rapidly heal up.
Project Diablo 2 Season 10 also adds two new custom maps for players to explore and a host of balance changes are coming as well.
A labour of love
After 24 years and two sequels, Project Diablo 2 is a massive achievement for fans of the classic ARPG. With ten seasons now under its belt, the huge fan mod shows just how passionate the Diablo community is, especially when new content is still released for free.
To play the new season, you’ll need to own both Diablo 2 and its brilliant Lord of Destruction expansion. The game is still available on BattleNet to this day. If this fan upgrade isn’t for you, then Diablo 2: Resurrected is also available.
