The first Diablo 4 expansion, entitled Vessel of Hatred, has just been announced at Blizzcon 2023. The upcoming DLC will not only introduce a new story but also more unique enemies, new equipment, and an all-new area to explore. Another never-before-seen class will also be introduced as part of the update, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Vessel of Hatred will be released in late 2024, and the developers will share more details early next year.
According to Diablo 4 Production Director Tiffany Wat, the tale of Vessel of Hatred will continue on from the events of the original plot. This could mean that we may finally get to see more of what happened to Neyrelle as she set out on an adventure to take care of the crystal containing the evil Mephisto. Of course, this is still merely speculation for the time being, so you’ll need to take this information with a grain of salt.
Wat also revealed during the showcase that the expansion will be taking place at a familiar jungle location that was previously featured in Diablo 2 called Nahantu. Here, you’ll be able to try out the new character class in all its glory, but keep in mind that since this class hasn’t been featured in past installments, you’ll have to keep on waiting for the return of the Paladin and the Monk to Diablo 4.
