Can you breed Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet?

Yes, players will still be able to breed Pokemon in the game by simply setting up a Picnic in the game’s open world. In order to breed Pokemon in the game, you will need to leave a male and a female Pokemon in the same Egg Group at the Picnic.

It’s important to note that the type of Pokemon you get depends on the species of the female. For example, if you decide to breed a female Sprigatito with another male grass type Pokemon, the egg that you will receive will eventually hatch into another Sprigatito. Alternatively, you can also breed a Pokemon with a Ditto if you want to obtain the same one.

You’ll need to keep only the two Pokemon that you want to breed in your party. This is because if there are other Pokemon in the same Egg Group in your team, they’ll also end up giving you eggs throughout the Picnic.

You also won’t have to do anything specific to acquire an egg from the Picnic. You can either wash your Pokemon, make a sandwich, or even step away and simply leave the game running. At some point, an egg will appear in the picnic basket so you’ll have to check it periodically as it can only hold 10 eggs at a time.
