Nintendo of Japan has dropped a six minute overview trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
While the trailer is in Japanese, it does give us some new gameplay footage and plenty to ooh over before Pokémon Legends: Arceus arrives at the end of this month. If you’ve not kept up so far, the game is a prequel set in the Sinnoh region, previously seen in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. However, this story is hundreds of years prior to those games, so the region is dubbed Hisui.
You’ll be undertaking a series of missions for the people of Jubilife Village. At the same time, you’ll be battling and collecting monsters, all the while building up the first ever Pokédex. While there’s still turn-based battles, it seems there’ll be a lot more action in the game’s overworld. If you’re lucky, you’ll even be able to catch Pokémon simply by throwing a ball when you see them, for example.
Between missions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll be prepping at your base camp. Here’s where you can feed your Pokémon, train them up and prepare for your adventure in the wilds. When you do return to the village, you’ll be able to buy new clothing options and important items for you and your Pokémon. Of course, here’s where you’ll also meet the colourful cast of characters for the game too.
You can check out the trailer for yourself below. We’re expecting an English language version in due course, and we’ll update this story should it land later today. Pokémon Legends: Arceus arrives exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on January 28.
