PlayStation has become the latest voice joining a growing choir of publishers calling for peace in Ukraine and suspending sales in Russia.

The official PlayStation Twitter account posted the following statement at the conclusion of last night’s State of Play. “Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) joins the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine. We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and operations of the PlayStation store in Russia.”

“To support humanitarian aid,” the statement continued. “Sony Group Corporation announced a US$2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the international NGO, Save the Children, to support the victims of this tragedy.”

PlayStation’s decision comes following a similar suspension of software & hardware by Microsoft last week. Both companies were the subject of an open letter by Ukraine Deputy Prime Minister Mykhalio Fedorov a few days prior. He called on the two to suspend services in Russia following Ukraine’s invasion by Russian forces last month.

The conflict has seen developers large and small united in sending their support to Ukraine. A Bundle for Ukraine on indie storefront itch.io has raised almost $3.5 million USD for those affected by the conflict. The war has also had a knock-on effect on individual games too, including putting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl development on indefinite hold & Nintendo postponing the planned April release of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.
