With the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 4, players have been trying to guess which operator the game will introduce next. While Warren Kole’s performance as Phillip Graves in Modern Warfare 2 stuck with some people, they’ve now been asking if we’ll see the character return as an operator in the game’s multiplayer.

Given, Modern Warfare 2’s overall story is linked to the game’s live service season, fans were a little surprised when the voice actor for Phillip Graves, Warren Kole, posted a picture of himself in motion tracking gear to Instagram with the caption, “Ahem…”

While Kole’s character was believed to be dead after the events of the main Modern Warfare 2 story, players have been quick to point out that, “if you ain’t seen a body, then the person is still alive.” This of course has its own problems, with user CrossWitcher saying, “No real death for important people in MW reboot, every f**king one is still alive.” Other users were quick to agree with players pointing to the return of Alex Keller during Modern Warfare (2019) through multiplayer and Warzone after he was shown dying in an explosion during the game’s campaign.

While players are happy to welcome Kole back to his role some are just disappointed that the current iteration of the Modern Warfare storyline seems to have no weight for characters with one player saying, “Next season’s operators are him and Mace. Like cmon guys, he obviously didn’t die in an offscreen tank. Sadly that’s just the s**t writing of MW22 tho.”

Some players have begun theorizing what his return might entail with user Edel_af saying, “Maybe they give him a redemption ark or make him a new antagonist for season 5 raid or something else.” Alongside this, players are hoping that with the return of Graves, we’ll see more Shadow Company cosmetics make their way to the game’s multiplayer with one player saying, “Would love to have some Shadow Co. Ranger or Kortac skins.”

Maybe this return will inspire some players to stick with Call of Duty as some Modern Warfare 2 players can’t wait for XDefiant as Season 4 is full of cheaters. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as Modern Warfare 2 players love this Season 4 quality-of-life change.
