Today, Nintendo has announced a new initiative called Game Trials, which will offer Switch Online members the chance to download and play Mario Tennis Aces for free.
From 07/08 – 20/08, #MarioTennis Aces will be available to purchase for 33% off – and those who tried it with Game Trials can carry over their progress! pic.twitter.com/t8Qy3oUc8H

From August 7 to August 13, active subscribers — including those on the free seven day trial of Switch Online — will see an option to nab the game and play it during this period. Moreover, Mario Tennis Aces will get a 33 per cent discount from August 7 to August 20, and progress made in Game Trials will transfer over to the full game if you decide to buy after you try.
At the moment, it seems that this Game Trial is only for players in the UK. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was confirmed to be free to play for Japanese Switch Online members earlier this week, so perhaps Game Trials are here to stay as Nintendo’s answer to competitors’ PS Plus and Xbox Live Games with Gold.
