Nintendo has said it’ll fix a game-breaking bug in its Nintendo Switch Online release of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

The classic 2000 platformer was the latest N64 release on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack last week. However, players soon discovered a specific bug when underwater that could cause Kirby to enter a stunned state forever. Interestingly, this bug only seemed to occur on this emulated version, and not the original hardware.

Just over a week later, and Nintendo has now acknowledged the bug on Twitter. “A bug has been found in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards for Nintendo 64- Nintendo Switch Online that can prevent players from progressing under a certain condition. A patch will be released early next week to fix this. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

We’re still waiting for Pokémon Snap from the Expansion Pack service’s initial list of N64 games. Beyond that, it’s not clear if any more games will be added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in the future. Announcement season is just around the corner however, so maybe we’ll hear more soon.

The release of Kirby 64 last week comes not long after the release of the pink blob’s latest adventure: Kirby and the Forgotten Land. You can check out Josh’s thoughts on that game’s demo right over here.
