Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has said that Nintendo can’t make sequels to accommodate every fan’s wishes.

During an annual general meeting (via VGC), a shareholder asked Furukawa about sequels. Specifically, about Nintendo making sequels to its older franchises. Games such as F-Zero and Wario Land, which people love.

“It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes,” Furukawa said. “Including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request.”

He then added: “But we are very grateful and appreciate the expectations our fans have for our games.”

Shinya Takahashi, a senior managing executive officer, also weighed in on the subject. “We are always considering how to develop new titles and remakes that can be enjoyed by many players,” he said. He then spoke about how someone asked about plans to remake the Famicom Detective Club series, which, coincidentally, the company was working on.

Takahashi then went on:

“We cannot tell you if there are any plans for future remakes of any specific game, but, during development, we are always thinking about various possibilities that players can enjoy.”

So there you have it. Nintendo is as Nintendo does. And maybe—just maybe—the remake or sequel you crave is on the way. Speaking of which, we found out, earlier this week, that the company may just release a Metroid Prime remaster this year.
