Nintendo has announced Kirby’s Dream Buffet, a four-player party game coming to the Switch this summer. The aim of the game, as far as I can tell, is to get Kirby to eat as much stuff as he bloody well can.

Check out the announcement trailer below:

The description reads:

“Hungry for some 4-player Kirby fun? Race through delicious obstacle courses, collect the most strawberries, and thwart your competition using familiar abilities. Get ready, Kirby’s Dream Buffet launches exclusively in Nintendo eShop this summer!”

A statement from Nintendo reads:

“Players will race each other through these delicious obstacle courses to collect strawberries as Kirby grows, bumping other players off the stage and using familiar Copy Abilities – or Copy Food Abilities, as they are called here – to thwart the competition.”

Nintendo also says that the game “offers accessible gameplay for players of all skill levels, but also presents a healthy challenge for those looking to satiate their craving for friendly competition.”

2022 has been something of a year for Kirby. Not only has Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards made its way onto the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. We have also had Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a full-fat 3-D Kirby adventure for the Switch. I very much enjoyed my time with that game, because it entailed Kirby eating a car.
