The Pokémon Company has revealed one of the major new Pokémon who you’ll be able to encounter in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.
While the new Pokémon doesn’t have a name yet, the account has revealed that the new monster will also appear later this year in the new Ash Ketchum-less animated series, known as Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Details are of course being kept under wraps, but here’s the description so far direct from The Pokémon Company themselves: “This unknown Pokémon is reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos, but its name and true nature are shrouded in mystery. It is small in stature and not particularly strong, but when push comes to shove, it can crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield. Apparently, it can also assume a dormant state when it feels that its life is in danger by pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and making itself look like a jewel.”
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will be the first expansion for the latest Pokémon game and was announced during Pokémon Day back in February. It’ll see players leave the Paldea region, and offer them more backstory in the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
It’ll release in two parts – with Part 1 known as The Teal Mask and will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch in the Fall of 2023. That’ll be followed by Part 2 of course – under the moniker The Indigo Disk, with that part launching ‘at a later date’ although a specific window has not yet been confirmed.
