Pokemon first aired in 1997. Everyone remembers that first episode where Pikachu and Ash just didn’t get on, and Ash couldn’t beat anyone if his life depended on it! Well, it’s 2022 now, and Ash Ketchum is finally the Pokemon World Champion.

He became the world champion in the last episode of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys. To do this, he beat Leon in the Master’s Eight tournament to hold the trophy with Pikachu and his other beloved Pokemon by his side. Ash’s team consisted of Pikachu, Gengar, Lucario, Dracovish, Dragonite and Sirfetch’d.

Many people thought that Ash would never manage to win the championship. But, he managed to prove everyone wrong- although, he did take nearly 30 years to get his hands on the trophy!

What Happens Now?

The whole premise of Pokemon was watching Ash try, and inevitably fail, to win the Pokemon world championship. But, now he’s won- so what happens next?

Many people have speculated that the show might come to an end now that Ash has fulfilled his main goal. Others have suggested that we’ll see Ash return as an adult, perhaps to defend his title, or conquer a new test.

Whatever the case, it’s likely we won’t see any more Pokemon content for a good while.

Where Can I watch Pokemon?

If you’re in the US, you may be wondering where you can watch the last episode of Pokemon. Well, unfortunately, the new series hasn’t yet aired, so you’ll be unable to watch it for the next few weeks.

The next series of Pokemon will be available on Netflix within the next few months, so make sure you’ve got your subscription updated and your popcorn ready for when it comes out-you won’t want to miss it.

Loyal Friends

Even though it’s been 25 years, and Ash has caught hundreds, if not thousands of Pokemon, there has always been one by his side- Pikachu. This didn’t change even when he won, and the image of Ash holding the trophy with Pikachu by his side has made for one of the most nostalgic moments in anime history.

Final Thoughts

So, that’s everything that you need to know about Ash Ketchum winning the world championship. This moment is somewhat bittersweet- it’s all that fans have wanted to see since the show aired. But, now Ash has won, we may never see a new Pokemon episode again. Either way, you don’t want to miss the latest series of Pokemon when it airs later this year.
