Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred is a very anticipated expansion for Blizzard’s ARPG, but the game’s advertising is surprisingly rocky this year.

After spoiling the expansion’s final boss in a recent trailer, new Diablo ads are now claiming that Vessel of Hatred is already playable.

No, you can’t play Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

While some players were able to play the new expansion in PTR servers to find bugs such as infinite damage, the expansion doesn’t release until October 8, 2024.

However, new advertisements for the expansion on social media are live saying the expansion is out right now.

“Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is now live!” one advert reads. “Play now to discover a new region, new class, more story, endless evil, and more.”

Curiously, fans have noticed that the release date for the new expansion was incorrectly listed for the same day these ads went live: September 28, 2024. This release date showed up on the PlayStation Store, but the expansion has not been released on PS4 and PS5.

As the expansion was revealed relatively recently, there is speculation that Blizzard planned to release the new content on September 28th but had to delay. With beta players quickly discovering methods to hit max level in mere minutes, thank Anu they did.

A rocky start?

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred is off to a bit of a rough start, despite the fact that most fans have yet to play it. While its leveling overhaul is exciting, many solo players are upset at the game’s focus on multiplayer for its endgame, even with a new party finder feature.

Nevertheless, it’s still very exciting to see more content coming to Blizzard’s delightfully gothic ARPG. After a decade of support for its predecessor, we can only hope that Diablo 4 gets a slew of new expansions in the future.
