A brand-new custom campaign has been announced for Larian’s sublime RPG Baldur’s Gate 3. Made with map tools released last year, modder SquallyDaBeanz is working on bringing the World of Warcraft to Baldur’s Gate 3 in a daring new campaign environment.

Baldur’s Gate 3 meets World of Warcraft

Revealed in a teaser trailer, the Baldur’s Gate 3 modder has announced a new custom modded campaign for Larian’s RPG that will recreate the Undead starting zone from World of Warcraft, Tirisfal Glades.

Entirely separate from the Dungeons and Dragons universe, this solo—or co-op—adventure is described as a “close recreation” of the World of Warcraft Classic area, but with some changes to work with BG3’s gameplay.

The modder explains that a teaser level will be released that will take place in Deathknell, the starting area for Undeads in WoW. This 90-minute release will include quests, encounters and a few locations to tease the full mod.

“The approach to encounters, quests, loot, and more have to be adapted to Baldur’s Gate 3 systems,” the modder explains. “The map and set dressing, however, is a close recreation but I don’t plan to do this for the entire mod.”

There’s currently no release date for the entire mod, but the unofficial BG3/Warcraft crossover should have its early teaser released sometime in February.

A haven for modding

Baldur’s Gate 3 already has thousands of mods to try and make Astarion hotter, add functional Pokeballs to the game or even re-adding cut content to the game from its early access period. However, with map tools now available for the game, modders will be creating content for the game years after Larian leaves Faerun behind.

Just like older Baldur’s Gate titles, the arrival of custom campaigns means that players will have decades of content to play through. Well, Larian’s made decades of content for us already, especially with the arrival of 12 new subclasses this year.
