A new mod for Larian’s amazing RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 has dared to ask the question: what if Astarion was even hotter? Voiced by Neil Newbon, the suave vampire companion immediately broke the internet upon the game’s release and sits as the third hottest companion in the game after the gorgeous Shart and the literally-too-hot-to-touch Karlach.
Released by modder Bishounen159, the “Hot as Bloody Hell” mod aims to make Astarion more beautiful than his already swoon-inducing character model. But does it actually succeed in making him more attractive?
Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotter(?) Astarion
Available right here on Nexus, the Hot as Bloody Hell mod simply envisions Astarion as a younger-faced vampire. Similar to the blasphemous mod that turns Bone Daddy Withers into a not-crusty-at-all baddie, Astarion’s alleged additional hotness comes in the form of making him younger.
With the mod, Astarion is no longer trapped in his late 30s for eternity, but more Edward Cullen like in his age. His cheekbones are more gaunt, his skin is even more flawless, and he has a twinkle in his eyes that most of us have lost over the years.
Overall, Astarion has gone from someone who you might find chatting up ladies as a sleezy bar to someone who’s taking their second stab at a university fresher’s week. It’s a different vibe, a smoother vibe, a twinkier vibe, but is it actually a “hotter” vibe? Naaah.
Sure, “Hot as Bloody Hell” Astarion is a great look for a younger Astarion, but for the more cultured among us, the original Astarion is the way to go. Hell, if you’re actually looking for a hotter version of the Baldur’s Gate 3 icon—and we do mean icon—the Slightly Older Astarion may be the way to go. Who doesn’t love a bit of added depth to those smile lines?
As someone who’s bisexual awakening was Tom Welling from Smallville, and then later Tom Welling in Lucifer, both Astarion mods are fine, I guess. However, if you’re looking for the hottest Astarion, you’ve already got him. He’s included in the game, original recipe, all 12 herbs and spices. Then again, what about the mod that gives him the bone structure of Handsome Squidward? Awooga.
