MW3 developer Sledgehammer Games has announced their decision to remove the divisive Weapon Tuning feature from the game. Instead of building upon this particular element introduced in the previous series installment, they’ve made “further improvements to make Gunsmith easier to use,” a change which should please a large portion of the player base.
Activision and Sledgehammer Games have also confirmed what these new features will look like ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date. Thanks to a comprehensive announcement posted through the official CoD blog, fans have been able to get a sneak peek at what these improvements will look like. One of the improvements in question will be a filtering system that enables you to view different attachments based on the specific stats that you’re looking to boost. This includes categories such as Mobility, Recoil Control, Fire Rate, Damage, and Accuracy, among others.
In addition, the in-depth blog post from the CoD developers also showcased a Weapon Stats feature in the Gunsmith that displays certain statistics for each separate attachment. Some of the stats you’ll be able to see on the graphic include a listed amount for headshot damage, upper torso damage, and lower torso damage, as well as specific distances for effective damage range and minimum damage range.
Community reaction towards these changes has predictably been positive, as most had been unconvinced at the necessity of weapon tuning in MW3. Fortunately, most of the player base’s wish has been granted this time around, as the unwanted equipment modification feature has finally been removed permanently.
