One of the newest Weapon Blueprints added to MW2 this week has players hoping it won’t be nerfed by the time it comes across to sequel MW3 when it arrives in November.

The weapon in question is the Super Shotgun from Doom, which has arrived in MW2’s store this week as part of a MW2 Doom Bundle, which includes a bunch of items including the series’ infamous chainsaw, some emblems themed like the 90’s original and more. But it’s the Super Shotgun blueprint for the Lockwood 300 Shotgun that’s attracted the most buzz, as it appears to be living up to its forebear as being obscenely powerful in MW2 and Warzone.

Many members of the MW community on Reddit have attested to this already, with many calling it “probably the best addition to the game” – in a genius move, even the gun’s animations play at a super-low framerate to emulate the same way the gun reloaded in the original Doom. “Playing with the Super Shotgun from Doom feels like a completely different game,” concurs Shaka_Walls. But it seems as if the gun’s range may be a little too effective. “The range on that is insane,” says AGodNamedJordan, and the power is nothing to be sniffed at too. “I believe it fires both barrels simultaneously, so, at range you’re landing enough pellets to kill, whereas it would require 2 shots normally” explains djml9.

As you can imagine, the Super Shotgun has divided the community between love and hate – but it’s certainly popular “Just finished a lobby with everyone running this,” claimed Red-Eye55 to which iosiro responded “Had a lobby where everyone was running the chainsaw and hearing it from anyone was the funniest thing I’ve ever experienced in CoD.”

While it’s not clear exactly how long the bundle will remain in the MW2 and Warzone shop, the good news is that it is confirmed that the bundle is included in the MW3 Carry Forward program, and as such will carry across into the new game come the Modern Warfare 3 release date. It won’t, sadly, be a part of the upcoming MW3 beta start time, which will welcome in PC and Xbox players this weekend. However, you can check out our handy Lockwood 680 weapon guide for a similar shotgun that will be available in said MW3 beta.
